Whether you want to explore the local wildlife at the Reptile centre or renowned Desert Park, or the explore the history or the Old Telegraph station or perhaps visit the School of the Air (the worlds largest classroom, there is plenty to see and do. Day 2: Around Alice Springs - West MacDonnell Ranges:

A full day to explore the attractions in and around Alice Springs. Alternatively spend the day exploring the rugged and spectacular MacDonnell Ranges. Historically a well kept secret to most, but with the opening of the Larapinta Trail, the geology and landforms of this region have become internationally recognised. Choose the number of attractions based on your fitness and how adventurous or relaxing you want to make your day. (NB: some of the attractions require a 4WD to access)

The road is bitumen all the way to Ormiston Gorge and Glen Helen Lodge. Choose from the 10 attractions depending on your fitness level and interests, before returning to Alice Springs.

Please note: If you want to maximise your time in The West MacDonnell Ranges you have the option to hire a AWD/4WD and stay at Glen Helen Resort tonight. You can spend more time exploring The MacDonnell Ranges and drive from Glen Helen to Kings Canyon via the Mereenie Loop Road tomorrow.

Day 3: Alice Springs to Wattarka (Kings Canyon)

Spend part of the day driving from Alice Springs (or Glen Helen) to Kings Canyon. We recommend spending the morning exploring around Alice Springs (or The MacDonnell Ranges) and completing the drive between these two locations during the middle of the day. Spend the afternoon exploring the shear cliff walls of Kings Canyon. On arrival into Kings Canyon choose from the various walks available including the 1.3 km Creek Walk through the Canyon (wheelchair accessible) or the more strenuous 6km Kings Canyon Walk across the top (spectacular).

Inclusions: Accommodation (Kings Canyon Resort), Car Rental

Day 4: Wattarka (Kings Canyon) to Uluru (Ayers Rock)

An early morning start gives you the opportunity to do the complete Kings Canyon walk during the coolest part of the day (subject to health and fitness). Spend part of the day driving from Wattarka to Uluru along Luritja Rd and Lasseter highway. Along the way stop over at Kings Creek Station a working cattle/camel station with facilities and the opportunity to experience the outback either by quad (4 wheel motorbike), helicopter or camel. You might even try one of their famous Kings Creek camel burgers for lunch.

In the afternoon check into your your hotel at Uluru where you can then take the well defined drive to the sunset viewing area. Take some nibbles and wine with you as you watch the sun sink over the western horizon and bring out the many shades of colour for which Uluru is famous.

— For the Ultimate Uluru Experience ask us to include the famous Field of Light and Sounds of Silence Dinner (extra cost) Late afternoon you will be picked up and taken to a picturesque spot overlooking Uluru. Sip on a glass of champagne with the sound of a lone didgeridoo filling the air as the sun slowly sets over Uluru. You will then be taken to a private dining setting in the middle of the desert with views of Uluru for an unforgettable fine dinning experience that includes a sky show. (Please note extra cost)

Day 5: Exploring Uluru - Kata Tjuta National Park:

A magnificent day exploring the Kata-Tjuta National Park. Spend the morning driving or walking around the base of the rock exploring the many aspects of this amazing monolith. A trip to Uluru is about experiencing and understanding its cultural & spiritual significance. Self Discover or take one of the guided tours that inform about the local flora and fauna, bush foods and the Aboriginal Dreamtime stories.

In the afternoon travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta (The Olgas). Located 50km away on a sealed road some people consider Kata Tjuta to be even more spectacular than Uluru. Depending on your interests, spend some time exploring the gorges and the unusual conglomerate rock formations, through one (or both) of the two dedicated walks. Sunsets at Kata Tjuta are spectacular and rival those at Uluru and are less crowded. Please note the complete Valley of the Winds walk (7.4km / 3.5 hr return) walk is sometimes steep, rocky and difficult. (Note: Options exist to cut down the length and duration of the walk depending on your interests & fitness).
