This package is suited to people who only have 7 days available and are looking to visit most of the highlights the Top End has to offer. Visit the main art sites, wetlands and stunning sunsets in Kakadu, swim in the spring fed waterfalls in Litchfield and marvel at the striking escarpment at Katherine Gorge. (Please note: to visit the waterfalls & swimming holes in Kakadu you need to hire a 4WD or include guided tour(s) to your package).

Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Darwin:
After picking up your vehicle and supplies, spend the rest of the day experiencing the relaxed atmosphere and local highlights Darwin has to offer. Darwin is a modern city whose flair and charm is a real surprise to people who aren't expecting it. Visit some of its great attractions and great eateries or café's. Well attended markets & sensational sunsets cap off a great day.

Day 2: Darwin to Kakadu
Travel the 260 km from Darwin to Kakadu National Park along the Arnhem Hwy, Along the way you will pass the Mary River Wetlands region. Mary River is overlooked by most people as they rush towards Kakadu which is unfortunate because it offers stunning wildlife and unique cruises at the Alligator River and Coroboree Billabong. Arrive into Kakadu and visit the displays at the award winning Bowali Visitor Centre before spending the afternoon exploring the East Alligator Region (best short walks in Kakadu). Cap off a great day with sunset at Ubirr (Must Do!).

Day 3: Explore Kakadu National Park:
Today is a full day exploring Kakadu National Park. Depending on your interests consider a guided tour into Jim Jim / Twin Falls or Arnhemland (extra cost). Alternatively spend the day exploring the key attractions in the central region of Kakadu including the incredible rock art and walks in the Nourlangie region where there is evidence of occupation stretching back twenty thousand years.

Day 4: Kakadu to Katherine
A fully flexible day with the opportunity to explore more of the attractions in the central and southern region of Kakadu at your own pace . As you head south visit the Warradjan Culture Centre in Cooinda and explore the nearby Yellow Waters region by foot or on a Yellow Waters Cruise (extra cost). Depending on what time you leave Kakadu, take the time to stop off at historic Pine Creek and a swim at picturesque Edith Falls before arriving in Katherine.

Day 5: Around Katherine (Katherine Gorge)
A great day exploring the spectacle of the river, shear cliffs and rock art that make Katherine Gorge such a popular attraction. There are four ways to explore the Park, bushwalking, helicopter flight, boat cruise or canoe. The best way to see Katherine Gorge is a combination of two.

Day 6: Katherine to Litchfield
From Katherine start travelling back towards Darwin along the Stuart Highway stopping off at attractions of interest before entering the magnificent waterfalls and croc free swimming holes of Litchfield National Park. Cool off with a swim at one or more of the 7 swimming holes. Unlike Kakadu and other spots in the top end, waterfalls flow all year round at Litchfield. Spend the night in a campground in Litchfield.

Day 7: Litchfield National Park to Darwin
A free morning to relax and explore more of Litchfield National Park before returning to Darwin. Spend as little or as long as you like at Litchfield depending on what time you want to arrive in Darwin. Alternatively spend the day exploring the Territory Wildlife Park and Berry Springs before returning to Darwin. Please note Vehicle needs to be returned before 4pm.

Let us know if you would like to add extra day(s) to this package so that you can include one of the guided tours to Arnhemland or the waterfalls and swimming holes within Kakadu.
